(Sen) - Sen are pleased to sponsor Alex Brundle in the British F3 International Series in 2010, continuring SEN's support for the nineteen year old racer.
The nineteen-year-old Briton has taken the decision to race in Formula 3 as it is one of the best series for young drivers, providing them with the opportunity of large amounts of vital track time. Nothing beats mileage when it comes to improving as a driver and Alex is raring to get started.
“I am very motivated by the opportunity to race in British F3,” said Alex. “I love the car and this will be the first time in my motorsport career I have had the benefit of a team around me. I am going to work hard to use that new-found support to turn in some strong results for T-Sport. Thank you to my long term sponsors GAC logistics, the Space Exploration Network and to Volkswagen Motorsport.”
“We’re delighted to have signed Alex,” said T-Sport Team Principal, Russell Eacott. “Having met him we have seen his enthusiasm and desire to race. Formula 3 is all about learning and Alex wants to be in an environment where he can learn to have a one-to-one relationship with his race engineer and really attack the technical challenges of F3.”
"We are delighted to welcome Alex Brundle into the Volkswagen family. In Formula 3 he faces an important learning year and we look forward to making the next step in his young career together,” said Volkswagen Motorsport Director Kris Nissen.
Volkswagen has a successful history in international Formula 3 series. Between 1982 and 1991 seven drivers celebrated F3 titles just in Germany. With its return in 2007 Volkswagen laid the foundation for a new era in the brand’s motorsport history: The runner-up in the 2008 Formula 3 Euro Series was followed by the championship titles in Germany and in Great Britain in 2009 and another triumph in the world-famous Macau Formula 3 Grand Prix.
One man who has a very keen interest in the development of Alex’s career is of course his father, former F1 racer Martin Brundle.
“Generations of drivers have benefitted from competing in British F3, including myself with Volkswagen power,” said Martin. “With 45 days on track and 30 races Alex will learn a great deal as he experiences a team environment for the first time. I like the attitude and approach of the T-Sport team and I’m confident about Alex’s rookie F3 season.”
Describing himself as "extremely satisfied" with the potential Alex showed in F2 last season, Martin is very much looking forward to seeing Alex develop his skills and gain experience in the British F3 series this year.
Charles Black, CEO of SEN, said "Alex has shown the raw speed and now wants to see what he can do with a team around him. SEN is delighted to be sponsoring Alex again this season".
