The sharpest ever image taken from the ground of the Omega Nebula has been captured by the European Southern Observatory’s Very Large Telescope. The nebula is located in the constellation of Sagittarius at a distance of 6500 light years away from Earth. The image shows a stellar nursery bursting with new stellar life. Hot, bright young stars are dotted across the swirling gas and dust which iprovides the raw material for new star formation.
