US astronomers have discovered a strange new species of galaxy so red that it could not even be seen by the Hubble Space Telescope. The four ancient objects, cloaked in dust and nearly 13 billion light-years away, were spotted by the infrared vision of NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope, the team from the Harvard Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics reports.
